ALL ABOUT OUR 2026 COMPETITION
The Cowboy State Games / Cody Spring Classic is a U.S. Figure Skating–sanctioned event and will follow all current U.S. Figure Skating and Compete USA rules and updates. The competition is open to eligible skaters who are current members of a U.S. Figure Skating club, Learn to Skate USA®, a collegiate club, or who hold an individual membership. Non-U.S. citizens should refer to the U.S. Figure Skating Rulebook for additional guidance.
Skaters competing in Excel and Well-Balanced singles events must meet the minimum test requirements for their level and may skate up one level when eligible. Skaters may not compete below their established competitive level if they have previously participated in the NQS or Excel Series. Skaters may not enter both Excel and Well-Balanced free skate events at the same level during this competition, but they may enter different event types at different levels if allowed. Adult, pairs, ice dance, and partner events require skaters to meet minimum test requirements without exceeding the maximum allowed. Synchronized skating teams are welcome, and skating skills test requirements are not required except at Compete USA maximum levels. Please note that updated age requirements for Well-Balanced events will take effect March 3, 2026.
A wide variety of events are offered, including Excel and Well-Balanced free skate, adult events, compulsory moves, jumps and spins challenges, showcase and interpretive programs, solo dance, Compete USA events, adaptive skating, Theatre on Ice, synchronized skating, and high school team maneuvers. Events are judged using either the 6.0 or CJS judging system depending on the event. Entry fees vary by event, with discounted fees for second events. Team events may include a team fee and/or a per-skater fee.
Registration is completed online through EntryEeze. The registration deadline is March 1, 2026 at 11:00 p.m. MST, with late registration available through March 6, 2026 for an additional $40 fee. A $5 non-refundable processing fee applies to each skater. Skaters competing in events with music must upload their music to EntryEeze by March 31, 2026 to avoid a late fee. A separate test session will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2026, with registration details posted on EntryEeze.
The Cody Spring Classic will take place at the Riley Arena in Cody, Wyoming. The rink features a full-size ice surface and full concessions. Locker rooms will be available to competitors for changing costumes and storing belongings. Practice ice will be available for purchase through EntryEeze for $15 per 20-minute session. On-site check-in will open one hour before the first event each day. Final schedules will be released after entries close, and skaters are encouraged to arrive at least 45 minutes before their scheduled event.
U.S. Figure Skating is committed to providing a safe, welcoming, and inclusive environment for all participants. All skaters, coaches, and volunteers must follow SkateSafe®, the U.S. Figure Skating Code of Ethics, and the Code of Conduct. Coaches and team personnel must meet compliance requirements at check-in. Locker rooms are reserved for athletes, with limited exceptions for younger skaters as outlined in SkateSafe® policies. Please note that live streaming and distribution of video that includes music is not permitted.
THE MOST FUN YOU HAVE EVER HAD AT A COMPETITION
Medals will be presented to first-, second-, and third-place finishers in each event, and all Learn to Skate participants will receive awards. Special awards and trophies will also be presented, including Top Point awards, a Top Team Award, a Distinguished Achievement Award for free skating, and a Most Distinctive and Entertaining Showcase Performance Award. All events are final rounds with no qualifying rounds.
Professional Photography will be available at the competition. Competitors will receive an email from the photographer and must communicate for which events they would like to have photography done before the competition. Late requests may be considered. Podium pictures will be taken in between events and a group picture of all of the competitors will be taken at 12pm on Saturday April 10th during the ZAM.
We will have a raffle set-up with many high value items; from Private lessons with top coaches to spinners and skate dresses. Our raffle allows us to keep our entry prices low and our judges taken care of, so bring your luck and join the fun! Our skaters will have hand-made stuffed animals for sale as well as other Skating merchandise. We look forward to highlighting your Spring!
